I will admit to some bias in creating this section as Dr. Alden Thompson, Professor of Theology at Walla Walla College in the state of Washington, was one of my professors. I believe he has done some exceptional work in presenting the inspiration of scripture and also dealing with problems in understanding of the Hebrew scriptures.

Inspiration: Hard Questions, Honest Answers Alden Thompson / Hardcover / Published 1991
In Inspiration: Hard Questions, Honest Answers Dr. Thompson addresses questions of Biblical inspiration and of our approach to Biblical errors or contradictions. He asks us to move away from those terms and rather refer to them as Biblical challenges. He is not arguing for a doctrine of inerrancy, but rather for a real appreciation for he human side of Biblical inspiration.
This book is addressed to a Seventh-day Adventist audience, but much of will be of great value to the general Bible student. I strongly recommend it to any Bible student who is having questions about the reliability, value and purpose of the scriptures. It will challenge you and broaden your thinking. You will likely find that you will never see the Bible in exactly the same way again.
