"Frequently when I'm teaching about Bible study, students ask how they can learn to understand the Bible for themselves and defend their understanding in discussion with others. I designed the participatory study method to help answer this question, starting at the simplest level of Bible study possible, but allowing growth into the most serious Biblical exegesis that the student desires. The outline of the method is available in our pamphlet, I Want to Study the Bible, our basic handout on Bible study. It is explained further in an appendix to Revelation: A Participatory Study Guide, and will be laid out in full in my forthcoming book Participating in Scripture.

This study guide to Revelation is designed for individual or small group studies. Its flexible lessons are ideal for Sunday School classes, small study or prayer groups and Wednesday evening studies. The guide is based on the participatory method, developed by author Henry Neufeld to help lay people learn to understand the Bible better.

Features:

  1. Clearly defined study method for individuals and groups.
  2. Basic lessons with graded additional study allow you to choose the time spent on your study
  3. Examination of different approaches to Revelation
  4. References to study Bibles and standard reference materials
  5. Emphasis on spiritual application-even if your group has problems agreeing on prophetic interpretation, you can share many spiritual lessons
  6. Glossary of terms
  7. Background references
  8. Study questions and topics for discussion
  9. Outline and notes for reference

This study guide does not include a translation. I am endeavoring to keep these guides small so the price can be reasonable, especially for small study groups. The notes are included under outline headings. For those who are interested, the translation that would have been included will be online, with a current projected date of March 15, 2005. The URL will be Totally Free Bible Version: Revelation.

Energion.com Description: Note: This is a book I wrote.

I wrote this book primarily to help people study Revelation for themselves, but it also has the goal of getting people to shake off some common attitudes about Revelation and dig deeper for personal, relevant, immediately applicable meaning. I make a number of suggestions that may lead to a much different than average understanding of the book.

This book is designed for group or serious individual study. It gives three plans--a three week, eight week, and 13 week study. The exercises also provide many options for how deeply you may want to study into each lesson.
